Sweet macaroni
The sweet macaroni is an old Etruscan dish prepared still today in Umbria for Christmas. This pasta topped with walnuts, honey, breadcrumbs and salt, but also cocoa, cinnamon, alchermes (spice liqueur whose red color is due to the presence of the dye extracted from cochineal) and other ingredients that vary from family to family.
Easy recipe for 6 people
Preparation: 10 minutes - 10 minutes for cooking
Ingredients
- 100 g breadcrumbs
- 60 g of cocoa
- 350 g walnuts
- 60 g of dark chocolate
- 150 g of sugar
- 400 g macaroni
- 1 c. Miele Coffee
- ½ tsp. Cinnamon Coffee
- 1 pinch of grated nutmeg
- zest of 1 organic lemon
- Alchermes
Preparation
Mix the breadcrumbs, chopped nuts, grated chocolate, cocoa, sugar, lemon peel and spices.
Cook the pasta al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water. Drizzle with walnut mixture.
Prepare possibly the day before, it's better.
Serve with alchermes.
