The Tornabuoni Chapel, Florence,
There are few cities in the world that can rival Florence for its rich history , beauty and art masterpieces , one of these that you can not miss is the Tornabuoni Capel in Santa Maria Novella.
The themes of the narratives of the frescoes are mainly those of the life of Mary and St. John the Baptist, and surrounded by pillars decorated with simulated architectures with Ionic capitals and beams with golden teeth. The scenes, which are held on the two side walls, have a history of reading that starts from low bands to continue to higher: for the left wall of the two panes to band should be read from left to right, while for the right, right to the left. The last scene, leading to seven panes to the wall, are depicted on the lunette but exception - in relation to the narrative history - that of the Coronation of the Virgin and saints, represented in the bezel of the back wall. Here is the big mullioned window with stained glass windows, made shortly after) the great decoration by Alessandro
Agolanti (1443-1516) designed by Ghirlandaio. In it are represented the principles of the apostles, Peter and Paul, Saints John the Baptist ,Lorenzo - highly revered in Florence , and the Dominican Saints Thomas Aquinas and Dominic de Guzman. At the centre, two scenes with the miracles of the Virgin: the Sacred belt and the Miracle of the snow. Below appear the two clients in prayer, Giovanni Tornabuoni and his wife Francesca Pitti. Finally, in the two upper registers, the sides of the window, shows two pairs of small scenes (a part of the stories of the Virgin and St. John, the other one with St. Dominic and St. Peter and St. Mateo.
